Hizbullah: A Primer

Read this MERIP piece for a background on Hizbullah, which shows the following: there is no distinct "Hizbullah" before 1985, it is not clear what Hizbullah's responsibility with the 1982 Marine barracks bombing is, and it cannot honestly be called a terrorist group like Al Qaeda.

That depends, actually, how you look at it. According to terrorism experts, certain Israelis, et. al. Hezbollah has had a vigorous global terrorism policy, like attacking the Jewish Center in Buenos Aires in the 90s and other such incidents. It was not so much their in-Lebanon activities that earned that the terrorist label, as I understand it, but supposedly a series of international incidents...
