Musharraf and Afghanistan

It's not often I completely agree with a Washington Post editorial. The situation in Pakistan is ridiculous and it should be considered a strategic failure on the part of the Bush administration on a par with the Iraq war.

Also, via Kafr al-Hanadwa, Tariq Ali has a LRB piece on Musharraf.

Name a foreign policy of the Bush II administration that is NOT a strategic failure. Seriously. Since my blog is devoted to signs of hope, I really would like for my own information to hear a reasonable argument for one major Bush II foreign policy that is not a spectacular mess. It bothers me to paint anything with one color, and the monotonous blood-red of Bush's failures needs some touch-up. Legitimate arguments only, no right-wing fantasizing or spin.

I think you're probably right, Leila... i used to think that at least Bush, even if for the wrong reasons, had taken a strong stance on Darfur. But when you think about it, he really has not done much there either, has he?
