Hassan el-Banna Super Star?

I'm away from the computer for sometime because of IT problems and work commitments. Happy Eid to all of you...
When you get the time please check out the following feature I co-authored with Al-Masry Al-Youm's Ali Zalat, on the Muslim Brotherhood's plans to produce a movie about its founder, Hassan el-Banna.

Hassan el-Banna Super Star?

The feature was co-written back on 13 October, but only went online two days ago.
I have also uploaded to my flickr account some historical photos of el-Banna, that we obtained from the Brotherhood.

Absolutely fascinating - congrats on the article, Hossam!

Do you get the impression the Ikhwan filmmakers want to air the film on a satellite channel? Will it stand a chance in ordinary cinemas?

Cool pics, interesting article! SP's questions about distribution are worth following up. I also wonder whether they have anyone in mind for the part of Hassan.

Is this by any chance financed/backed by Seif al-Islam al-Banna?

Cheers for the feedback ya shabab.
SP: No details available yet on that. Remember the MB doesn't even have a formal approval from the Censorship Authorities. All they have is some verbal approval on a scenario they haven't received yet, according to what MP Mohssen Radi said. If the MB get that license, they'll be able to show it in regular cinemas. However, you ask me, I can't see Mubarak's regime ever sanctioning this move. My best guess is that they'll produce a movie that might be distributed on DVDs and VCDs.
Regarding the financing, Seif al-Islam is part of it, but there are other partners, I don't know, who'll be part of this joint venture company to be founded. (And of course there are plenty of well-off Brothers around willing to cash into a project like that.)

Maybe it'll become the first feature-length Arab film to be distributed online...
