Speaking of things Condi, news reports on Ayman Nour's trial are saying that US embassy officials are present at the court room. If any of you attended the trial or have more information, do please share.

I was not at the trial, but US diplomats (and those of other Western countries) attend almost every trial that has a political or human rights dimensions. Back in the days of the Saad Eddin Ibrahim trial, the courts were the best ways to meet diplomats - they basically camped out there!

I wouldn't read much into the fact that they were there for Nour's trial -- it's a big deal that is being followed closely by the administration and Congress, therefore it's normal that they were there as observers.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought - foolishly - that perhaps the international glare would prod the regime to behave better.
