So what's really "historical" about this speech?!

Obama's speech has ended... It's some of the biggest pile of horseshit I've had to listen to in years.. and I still don't understand what's "historical" about it?!! You can follow the live-tweeting during the speeach on my Twitter account and under this hashtag..

I have to admit it was pretty funny watching your twitter feed during the speech, having a nervous breakdown every time the man finishes a sentence. Chill out, dude. I thought you were going to have an aneurysm!

انا باعيط من الغيظ
ما قالش غير كلام بوش
بس بدل ما يقول لنا يا ولاد الوسخة
قال لنا يا ولاد الست اللي مش نضيفة

Hey, I'd like to see your analysis of how it's horseshit, but it's pretty hard to figure out from your Twitter feed — after I click N times to get back to the right day, there are a bunch of these disconnected utterances like "Obama will promote child and maternal health. This means more money for Mama Suzi the guardian of Egyptian Motherhood". What is that supposed to mean? What did he say, who is Mama Suzi, and do you disagree with him? If so, how?

Should I just be looking at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/03/cairo-under-siege-ahead-o_n_211154.html or did you write up your thoughts somewhere in a fashion that might make sense to non-Egyptians?

Thanks for your interest. Due to the lack of time, I invite u to kindly check my previous postings on Obama: http://arabist.net/arabawy/tag/obama/

Thanks! I read a lot of your blog posts because I follow you on delicious (you were the first person to link an article about Bhutto's assassination, I think), but most of them aren't helpful to someone who doesn't already know a lot about the situation. For example, when you say, "Obama in Saudi Arabia: “I’ve had several conversations with His Majesty [King Abdullah]. And I’ve been struck by his wisdom and his graciousness”. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME……?!!!!", it isn't clear (to someone who doesn't know anything about Abdullah except maybe that he's the son of Fahd) why you might think he was fucking kidding you, or what you yourself think about Abdullah. In other words, you expressed the strength of your disagreement, without expressing anything about why you disagreed or what the truth is, apparently on the assumption that it would be obvious to all of your readers. But that will only help to convince people who already share your background and agree with you.

I have read a number of your op-eds and they are very informative.

I understand that you are busy and not writing your blog for my pleasure. I admire that you share your opinions as much as you do, risking your own life and family in the process, even when I don't agree with them. I just wish I knew more of the things you know that form those opinions.
