Explosion in Al-Azhar area

An explosion in El-Hussein Sq has injured 8 persons, al-Jazeera reports..
An unexploded device, the police announced, was also found in the scene.. This is the last fucking thing we need right now. The govt will use this as an excuse to screw us even more using the "terror threat"... And surprise, surprise, the explosion happens days before the new counter-terrorism law is legislated!!! Police provocation? If so, then it won't be the first time...

That may be taking it a bit far. If it is as you say then surely they would be shooting themselves in the foot as it has gotten enough coverage to cause concern about the safety of tourism in Egypt (this is now headline news on BBC). I know it's a small bomb but just think about this before throwing around accusations. Khan el khalili? There's no better way to kill off tourism than to hit a tourist spot- surely they could have picked a spot with natives. Seems anti government more than anything.
Secondly, you live in a semi- dictatorship. I don't think they have to go to any lengths to convince you of what action they will take. What exactly is the public gonna do? Do a couple of puney protests and get hosed down by water cannons?
