MB blogger Mohamed Adel disappeared Thursday night on his way to meet an American journalist. His house was later raided Friday around 1am by State Security police who searched the place and confiscated Mohamed's books and CDs...

Another blogger (and documentary films producer) El-Baraa Ashraf was also picked up and is currently undergoing interrogation by State Security agents in El-'Ayyat Police Station...

Let us call it what it is. Adel is missing. When we find out he is being held by authorities, he will not be 'detained' because the Minister of Interior did not officially order that. He will not be held 'in custody' either. He will be kidnapped, disappeared, and held incommunicado. Out of regular law, out of emergency law.

Speaking of detention. According to emergency law, only the Military Ruler (President during Emergency Status) can issue detention orders, and he can delegate this authority. Did Mubarak delegate this authority to any Minister of Interior after his first minister back in 1981? If not, then even according to emergency law, all the tens of thousands of Egyptians held by the state since then are kidnapped.

Worth of an investigation, if anyone cares for legalities.
