Solidarity from the British Postal Strikers رسالة تضامن من عمال البريد المضربين في بريطانيا إلى زملائهم المصريين

Labor activists involved in the ongoing British Postal strikes have come across reports of what happened to their Egyptian colleagues in Ramses Sq. last month... I received two solidarity messages... Here's one of them...
Dear Comrade,
i read about your fight, and I would like to send to you and all the Egyptian postal workers solidarity from the Islington postal workers in North London, at present we are in a fight with Royal Mail over are terms and conditions you can be an inspiration to us all here in UK
In solidarity, David Morrison N1 CWU Delivery representative

To the Shabab in Cairo, PLEASE translate this short letter into Arabic, and distribute it among your media and labor contacts... To those who were involved in the Egyptian postal strikers solidarity campaign and are still in touch with the strikers (after they were moved back to their hometowns in the Nile Delta and elsewhere), call the strikers up one by one and tell them of this letter on the phone, if you cannot meet them in person..

I hope in the future there would be more liaising between those involved in labor campaigns in Egypt and their international counterparts. I'm sure if such solidarity had arrived earlier, while the strike was still taking place, it would have constituted more pressure on the Egyptian government to submit to the strikers' demands.

In any case, it's good to know the news of the Egyptian working class struggles is trickling to the rest of the world...

To the shabab in Britain, how can we help? Are there petitions you want us to circulate among our labor contacts calling on the British bosses to submit to the workers' demands? To whom it should be addressed? You can either send me an email or post a comment...

Workers of the World UNITE!
